The musings of Mr Monkeysized

My internal jukebox by monkeysized

Not so much something I’m pondering about monkeysizing, but a troubled bit of my brain. Every day I wake up there’s a new tune in my head. It’s a bit like an internal version of Sonny and Cher from “Groundhog Day”, other than that it changes most days. Sometimes it’s something I was listening to the day before; sometimes BAM! it’s something from a couple of decades back, with no warning.

I’ve been meaning to keep a diary of these tunes for some time. As I woke up today without a tune in my head for the first time in months, I thought it was a good time to let you know what was on the internal jukebox…

Friday: Soviet National Anthem

Saturday: “Aqualung” by Jethro Tull

Sunday: “Oh Patti (dont’ feel sorry for loverboy)” by Scritti Politti

Monday: “The First Time” by U2

Tuesday: “Aqualung” by Jethro Tull

Wednesday: “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues” by Nina Simone

Thursday: “Cities” by Talking Heads (?)

Friday: “Only Losers Take The Bus by Fatima Mansions” + “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by The Who

Saturday: “Theme From Rawhide” + “Aqualung” (again…)

Sunday: “Rain Street” by The Pogues + another that vanished quickly

Monday: “Hotwax” by Beck

Tuesday: a brief pause, then “Good Morning Britain” by Aztec Camera and Mick Jones

Wednesday: 15 seconds of peace, then “Come Up And See Me (Make Me Smile)” by Cockney Rebel

Thursday: 4 minutes (!) of peace, then “”When The Tigers Broke Free” by Pink Floyd

Friday: 2 minutes then “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by The Who

Saturday: “Tropics of Love” by Black Heart Procession

Sunday: “Connection” by Elastica

Monday (today): Nothing. Bloody brilliant.

What do you make of that then?
